Mental Health Awareness Week 2024
This week is Mental Health Awareness Week – a week filled with events and initiatives to continue to raise awareness of mental health and the amazing support that is available.
Being part of a mental health trust at Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has enabled us to work on a number of projects focusing on improving people’s access to and experience of mental health services.
To mark Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re shining a light on and sharing three of them.
MindWell – mental health information for people living in Leeds
Since launching in 2016, MindWell has been the go-to website for people living in Leeds, providing information, resources and signposting to the many services and organisations working across the city to support people with their mental health.
On MindWell you can find out about support in the city, understand common mental health problems and find resources to help you take care of your wellbeing.
You can explore MindWell by visiting https://www.mindwell-leeds.org.uk/.
Digital skills in mental health guide – an interactive tool for teams to make progress together
In 2021 we partnered with the team at NHS Confederation to develop a digital skills guide for people working in mental health.
The guide provides teams and individuals with a way to explore their current digital skills and confidence related to their work and provides them with clear actions that they can take and free-to-use resources available to develop their digital skills.
You can read all about the guide and download a copy to try with your team by visiting https://www.nhsconfed.org/publications/digital-skills-mental-health-guide
A Guide to Inclusive Digital Transformation in Mental Health
Also in 2021, we worked with the Digital Mental Health team at NHS England to create a Guide to Inclusive Digital Transformation in Mental Health.
The Guide was co-designed and produced by people with lived and living experience of mental health services. It brings together the best resources for people who are interested in ensuring inclusion is central to the digital transformation of services and care pathways in mental health. The Guide is for everyone, no matter where you currently are in your work or practice.
You can join our growing community on our Inclusive Digital Inclusion FutureNHS workspace to view the guide.

These are just three of the projects we’ve worked on over the last couple of years focused on improving digital mental health services. We now have the opportunity to use our learning from these as we work on new projects including our current research to better understand the barriers people face when accessing perinatal and maternal mental health support.
If you would like any more information about any of our mental health related projects, please feel free to contact us at thrivebydesign.lypft@nhs.net and one of the team will be happy to get in touch for a chat.
